Dear Sir,

I would like to thank all the people who voted for me to represent them for the last 14 years as an Independent Councillor at Great Aycliffe Town Council, and as a Sedgefield Borough Councillor, before, sadly it was disbanded.

I am not standing in the elections this time as my family and I are relocating to live near the sea, a lifelong ambition of ours.

I would like to thank the current Town Clerk, Andrew Bailey and all his staff, for the friendship, love and support that they always gave me. I wish Andrew and Christine a long and happy retirement, also our lovely Mayor, Mary Dalton, such a lovely lady that she is.

I’d like to wish Dan Austin good luck in his new role as Town Clerk. I am sure he will serve the town well, if his work doing all the accounts if anything to go by. He always presented his hard work in a way that we could understand and appreciate.

Another great man, who it has been a pleasure to know and work alongside as an Independent Councillor.

I’d like to think I got along with all Councillors from different parties, for the good of the town and the residents.

A special mention to Jed and Wendy Hillary, Martin Ashcroft and Bob Fleming – kind, caring, hard working, honest Councilllors, you never read Wendy, Jed or Martin bad mouthing other Councillors, they just work for us all to the best of their ability.

I must also mention Eddy Adam, he always returns calls and gets the job done. It seems Bob and Martin are standing as Independents, whatever they stand as, I wish them good luck; Bob has so much experience and knowledge, I have so much love and respect for him.

Please, when you place your X to vote, vote for the people with experience, not vote just because someone is popular – knowledge and experience is what we need.

Once again, thank you for the support I have received over the years and good luck to all candidates, hopefully the best will be successful.

Yours sincerely

Irene Hewitson
