Our Annual General Meeting is on Wednesday 6th December starting at 6pm with refreshments at 5.45, at Greenfield Arts Centre.

We will look back at a very successful year in fact probably our best year to date with trips to Newcastle Dogs, Hancock Museum, Whitby, Holy Island/Sea Houses, Gladys Tea Rooms, Beamish Halloween, Leeds Christmas Shopping, and Billingham Panto.

Our trips are proving very popular and most selling out very quickly, in fact the Leeds trip last Saturday was so popular we had to put two coaches on. We also held a comedy night with award winning Patrick Monahan also a very successful Community Fun Day with over 450 people attending. The best way to find out about our trips and events is to join us at our meetings.

We have supported the Defibrillator project to place units across the north of the town. We have planted 2,500 crocus bulbs with local school pupils and helped with Operation Spruce up and planted 4,000 mini daffodils bulbs again with local pupils. We raised £500 for the MRI Scanner Appeal at our comedy night and fun day.

We join local Councillors on regular walkabouts and work with other agencies to improve our neighbourhoods and the lives of everyone who live and work in Newton Aycliffe.

I would like to thank the following people for their support over the last year, The Association Committee, Greenfield Arts Centre, Greenfield Community College, Local Beat team, Local Councillors, Livin, Great Aycliffe Town Council, Durham County Council, Shirley from Tesco, Lorraine Gilmour, Wilko’s, Bay Horse Middridge, Greenfield Convenience Store.

We will also elect the officers for the next 12 months, if anyone is interested in joining the committee you are more than welcome to join us.

Philip Clark
