Hope everyone had a wonderful extended bank holiday weekend. It’s been business as usual for us all on the rescue circuit so I would like to show everyone a lovely picture of a litter of hoglets I have had the pleasure of caring for over the weekend for Bernie’s Hedgehog Rescue. I want to make everyone aware that it is baby season, the mum of these particular hoglets was scared off due to her nest being disturbed in-between some bales of hay last Thursday. They are about the size of a female thumb or cotton bud, the shadow is my mobile phone. These babies take a phenomenal level of care, they need feeding every two hours, they also need toileting, rescues know how to become substitutes but it’s still very hard for us. We had Scotty, Leanne, Amber and Johnny. They can’t see, hear or do anything for themselves. Please get advice from BHPS if you think you have disturbed a nest.
My thanks to everyone who called to see me last week at Morrison Close Community Centre, all the staff were very kind and welcoming towards me which was appreciated. Can I also thank everyone at Avon Court for the lovely donations of dolphins and cash, Lori, as usual, and June, for being so amazing, fundraising is key. I am self funded, but what makes fundraising difficult is that I can’t leave poorly hedgehogs and hoglets, my time is best here with them, so thank you everyone.
I have to say that I am full now, unable to admit, so the tip of this week is to simply ring
The British Hedgehog Preservation Society on 01584 890801 or your local vet.
Thank you.
