Heighington RFYL U7’s
Heighington 2 v Durham Reds 2
Today saw the two unbeaten teams come together. Both teams had started the season well with 8 wins for 8 and scoring +50 each. It was going to be a tense game to watch but the lads played fantastic.
Taking the lead early on through Isaac Turnbull and Tommy Craddock only for Durham to change it up and come back at Heighington boys. What a fantastic game to watch at U7’s and credit to each player that played as good as they could.
Heighington could have nicked it towards the end with an excellent run from Oliver Savage only to be wiped out by the oncoming Durham players. Parents and Managers MOM goes to Oskar Raine, who was fantastic in goal in the first half and produced a dominate display outfield as he worked hard to keep the game flowing.
Still unbeaten after 9 games is a fantastic achievement so far and I’m so proud of the lads and parents.
Goals: Isaac Turnbull, Tommy Craddock.

Velocity Eagles 1 v Heighington 5
An earlier than usual start for the Heighington boys on a boggy pitch in poor conditions today. The first half was played on a knife edge as Heighington went two nil up thanks to an early brace from captain Lucas Faulkner before Velocity Eagles got one back and pressed us right until the half time whistle. Some good saves and brave tackling saw Heighington through a period of pressure until Lucas bagged his third to lift the lads and saw the boys back playing their fantastic passing football. Some great crossing from Mitchell created the openings that Heighington needed and it wasn’t long before Isaac Morgan made a fantastic run from defence and bagged himself a great goal which he fully deserved as it’s been coming for a few weeks. The scoring was rounded off after another thunderbolt by Lucas from outside the box saw the ball kiss the inside of the far post before nestling nicely in the net.
The whole team deserves a mention today as we were not at our best by any standard but we remained united enough to pull off a result which is testament to the attitude and spirit of this team in the face of adversity.
MOTM: Jamie Bennett Scott, put everything on the line for his team today taking a few knocks and never backing down against some much larger boys.
MOTM: Isaac Morgan, obligatory solid game in defense and worked hard for his goal which he took like a pro and fully deserved.
Big shout out and thank you to our sponsors @sash hardware,
Chris Harper, many thanks as always.

Sunderland RTC 0 v Heighington AFC 3
The Mighty Red and Black’s were absolutely brilliant today. The lads battled all the way to keep the clean sheet. They made sure we kept playing our passing game but weren’t afraid to get stuck in either. Really unlucky not to score more, Sunderland keeper played amazingly.
Goals scored: Jack x1, Tom x1, Watson x1.
MOM went to Luca again. Could easily be the whole team today. Their coaches struggled to choose. But, for his constant running and because he was everywhere today, Luca scraped it.

Cleveland Wolves U12’s 0 v Heighington Whites U12’s 12
Heighington started the game with a high press and passing game which let us control the game from the 1st minute till the last minute. The way in which we played today was a pleasure to watch the whole game and take nothing away from the Wolves as they tried to get a foot hold on the game but our midfield was too strong today. Half time we had a comfortable 5-0 lead. Second half was much better as the press got higher and didn’t allow them a single shot on target after the break. The game finished 12-0 to us with some fine finishing and passing by the whole team. The manner in which we defended today impressed me the most so a huge well done to Theo, Malco, Murray, Cruz, Joseph, Chris and Evie who played some fantastic passes forward and allowed our attack to flow and play with complete freedom. Nathan McKenna, captain for the day, was deadly in front of goal. Wilko scored his first hat trick for the team and assists I lost count of. Dan scored a great goal after another great passing move, Finley and Benjamin were solid all over the pitch. Coaches MOTM went to Nathan McKenna who scored 4 goals, 2 assists and never stopped running. Parents MOTM went to Wilko with his 1st hat-trick and 3 assists. Whole team played fantastic all game and Cruz Denton was given extra applause by their coach and also scored 2 fine goals and an assist. The score really does tell the story on this one by far one of our best performances, well done to everyone, thank you everyone for your support every week. Massive thank you to the Hammer & Pincers for our strips this season too.
