Heighington AFC celebrated a remarkable 2023/23 with their annual presentation at The Big Club in Newton Aycliffe. Despite the hot conditions there was a tremendous turnout from parents, players and sponsors.
The U8’s team displayed the numerous trophies they had accumulated from various tournament successes throughout the season. The U11’s proudly showed off their RFYL League winners trophy with Coach, Mark Brown, announcing that the team would be visiting St. George’s Park in the autumn to take advantage of the state of the art professional set up.
Each of the boys recieved their league winners medals as well as trophies from the club and Mark expressed his gratitude to both parents and sponsors for their support throughout this successful season.
The U13’s were narrowly beaten in the RFYL Cup final, but were hopeful their league success would be rewarded with a promotion this year. Coaches, Mike Brain and Jamie McCabe, thanked both parents and sponsors on a great season for a team that last season appeared to be folding. Instead the squad grew both in terms of numbers and quality and were unlucky not to win any silverware.
The U13’s Whites had shown great growth this year. Coach, James Kelay, pointed to their fine end of season form that showed they should be a real force next season in both league and cup. James also thanked the tremendous support he had received from parents. Next year should be a great season for this team.
The club would like to thank Brian the photographer for his superb service. Brian took photographs throughout the event with his fees going to charity, a fantastic gesture.
Finally, the success of the club both on and off the pitch means we are unable to cope with the incredible demand for children that are wanting to join the club, therefore, the club are appealing for anyone interested in coaching a team to get in contact and take advantage of the superb facilities on offer. This role will be open to those both with or without experience and support will be offered throughout.
