Greenfield Arts were delighted to bring Mulitverse Arcade (MVA) to Greenfield Community College and welcome Unfolding Theatre this week. The futuristic installation forms an interactive arcade which puts the future ‘in your hands’ and has given students throughout the school the opportunity to reflect upon important topics that may impact upon the planet and the future lives of themselves and others so they can have their say.
The innovative learning tool has attracted interest from the wider community and Student Leaders at Greenfield hosted an interactive event where they could voice their opinions and collaborate with members of the community which included local councillors, politicians and delegates from local business. The sessions were a great success and brought about several invitations to share their learning and speak to local groups.
The initiative forms part of a wider project led by Greenfield Arts which strives to give a voice to young people and provide a forum for discussion and debate. MVA is funded by GAMP AAP and has successfully reached and inspired groups of young people who have used MVA, had their voice heard and been inspired to create poetry and write about their ideas.
Led by Greenfield Arts in partnership with Greenfield Community College the young people are now working towards speaking at the school conference and are organising their own youth conference in July, to be held at the Excel Centre.
Thank you to GAMP AAP and Unfolding Theatre for their valued support which has made such a difference to the young people involved who have been inspired by this project. Unfolding Theatre first showcased MVA at The Great Exhibition of the North but this is the first time they have been invited to share this work in schools.
Katy Milne, Director of Arts and Creativity, a strong advocate and leader of creative learning, is thrilled with the achievements of the young people, “It has been amazing to see the young people become more confident to voice their opinion and share their learning with others, I am very proud of them”.
