Wednesday 14th December saw the welcome return of the annual Older Residents’ Christmas Party at the Sunnydale Campus of Greenfield Community College.  55 local residents enjoyed a Christmas tea prepared by the students, who also provided entertainment in the form of a Christmas Quiz, Bingo and a sing-a-long with the school choir.  The afternoon ended with a free raffle, in which everyone was a winner, and all guests left with a hamper of food donated by students to brighten their Christmas.

Guests were full of praise for the students, who not only served tea, coffee, sandwiches and cakes but also sat and chatted with the residents and even played along with the bingo, before helping them carry their prizes home. Assistant Headteacher Kath Bennett said ‘The whole event, including planning, decorating the hall, preparing and clearing up was run by the students, with every form from the Sunnydale Campus making a contribution.  It was a lovely afternoon and we are incredibly proud of our young people who showed that they truly are an important part of the wider community’ Thanks also must go to the local businesses who donated raffle prizes for the event.
