Greenfield Community College U13 Girls’ Table tennis team travelled to Freeman Quays to represent Sedgefield in the Level 3 County finals. The team has been working hard at weekly sessions based at Greenfield as part of  the Sports Academy with most members of the team training for 4 hours after school on Mondays.
The team performed extremely well at the finals – winning all but one match, including some against the top teams from across County Durham.  Despite a great performance, the girls lost the tournament to Durham Johnston School.
The team included Emma Smith, Captain and a county level player, who was unbeaten at the tournament (Year 8), Sinead Hinton (Year 8), Anna Cialis- Hodgson (Year 7) and Caitlin McCormack (Year 7).  Emma started her table tennis career through the satellite Table Tennis club at Greenfield Community College run by Matthew Porter the County Table Tennis development coach. There is a community session for those interested (any age group & ability welcome) at Greenfield on Mondays 4:30 – 5:30pm. For more information about our Community table tennis opportunities call Greenfield’s  Sport Manager Lee Boynton on 07879 117224.
