Sue Williamson, CEO of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) visited Greenfield Community College on Friday to observe the outstanding practice in pupil progress at the school.
Mrs Williamson and Regional officer Andy Williams met with Head teacher David Priestley and observed students in lessons throughout the morning. The visitors were impressed with the independence of students and the focus from teachers on innovative teaching and creative ideas.
Students shared outcomes from recent enquiry based learning and demonstrated a wealth of knowledge gained from a whole host of different topics and in-depth research projects. The guests also visited ‘Room 13’ the School In The Cloud project looking at work involving SOLEs.
Mrs Williamson said ‘It is wonderful to see a school that has the pupils at the heart of everything taking place. Pupils and teachers are not afraid to take risks in their learning and the results are clear to see. The enquiry based learning is challenge in the simplest and most effective form and children are genuinely inspired by the approaches taken by the school.’
