Over the past month Amethyst tutor group at Greenfield Community College have been working with local artist Jilly Greenwood to design and make Christmas Cards which they are now selling to raise money for “Plan.”
The group started the project by learning more about the charity, discussing how everyone has the right to receive an education, regardless of locality, gender or race.
“Plan” is a charity that supports women and children in developing countries. They do this in a number of ways, including running the ‘sponsor a child’ scheme which supports children’s care and education within different communities, they also help girls overcome barriers to education and start/support shelters for abused women within developing countries.
The students tried a variety of different printmaking techniques including collage, mono and coca-cola lithography to create a range of designs which they have assembled into Christmas Cards.
The cards are for sale now in reception at Greenfield Arts for 50p each. All of the proceeds will go to “Plan” to support the work they do. Amethyst tutor group would like to thank Jilly, who initiated the project, for giving up her time and materials to help make the project happen!
