On Friday 1st March, pupils and staff at St. Joseph’s Primary School took part in ‘Global Unplugging Day’. This is a day dedicated to unplugging from the electronic world and spending time with others and experiencing nature. The children took part in a range of outdoor learning across the day: planting flowers, making bird boxes and cooking s’mores on a campfire. No computers/ipads or electronics were used in classes and lights were kept off for the entire day. One of the pupils said, “I loved spending lots of time outside and it’s good for the world to not use electricity.”
School dinners were even made electric free! The staff also did their part by having pre-prepared tea/coffee with no use of the kettle all day! Mrs Evans (Headteacher), said, “It was lovely to see the children and staff spending quality time with each other and chatting and laughing together.”
