A scheme to build 80 houses on a vacant 5.3 acre site, formerly a Nursery at Travellers Green, is proposed by Gleesons. A planning application has been lodged with Durham County Council, who have earmarked the land for Housing in its Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment and emerging County Durham Local Plan.
Ed Alder, Regional Director for Gleeson said “our proposals will provide a range of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom family homes for low cost private sale, and provide further regeneration and economic benefits for Newton Aycliffe as a whole.  We will also be employing local labour and create apprenticeships for young people residing in the area. We have worked hard with the Council Planners to come up with an attractive, well designed scheme and look forward to commencing development in the near future”.
Gleesons completed a succesful development on Shafto Way on the former Care Home site. The public has until 1st August to make comment on their new application to Durham County Council.
