The NAYFC U13 Girls Team started the New Year off with a hard fought away win at South Durham & Cestria last Saturday. The home side, straight from the off, showed determination in attack. No surprise, when from a corner, they went 1-0 up via deflection. It took a while for our girls to get into gear and after some neat passing around the box, the opposition levelled with a rifled shot which gave the keeper no chance! 1-1.
The home side continued to run at our defence and took the lead when their striker fired home from the right hand side. This seemed to wake our girls up  and before long a neat combo from the midfield found our forward to make it  2-2. Then from a corner and knock on we forced the ball home for a 2-3 half-time lead.
Second Half saw the girls battle hard in defence – clearing their lines, supported by a strong midfield. We increased the lead when our keeper’s long clearance found the striker for 2-4. Our keeper kept their attack at bay with some confident stops, but as before, Cestria kept coming at us and made it a nervy finish for all making it a 3-4 final score.
Some tough games ahead but 3 much needed points. Goals from Lottie Hall, Lily Mansfield & Chloe Ryan (2). Newton Aycliffe Youth FC Girls U13s train Wednesdays, indoors at Greenfield Community Arts College, 6.30-7.30pm. U11s & U12s, 5.30-6.30pm.
