Guest speakers at Great Aycliffe Residents‘ Assocaition AGM and Public Meeting  will be Phil Wilson MP and Ron Hogg Police Commissioner. Both will be available to answer topical questions of the day.

Members of the public may wish to discuss the impact of the government’s benefit cuts especially those deemed to have more bedrooms than they need.

The first item on the agenda is the Election of the Committee and nominations have been received for Chairman Syd Howarth, Vice Chairman Fr Michael Campion, Treasurer Barry Hutchinson, Secretary Arun Chandran. Derek Atkinson, Cllr Bill Curtis, Cllr Bob Fleming, Don Fraser, Chris Wheeler, (all elected unopposed)

Affiliated Members: Ken Robson ACORN Residents’ Association, Margaret Robson Friends of Senior Citizens (Neville Community Centre), and  2 Representatives of Great Aycliffe Town Council’s Youth Council.

GARA are looking for three more people to join the Committee at the AGM who can be nominated on the night. In addition all organisations,  Charities, Interest Groups are invited to be affiliated members of the  Great Aycliffe  Residents’ Association.

These will be entitled to one representative to serve on the Management Committee.

The committee is also empowered to co-opt members (non-voting) with skills and knowledge useful to the Association in fulfilling its objectives.

The Great Aycliffe Residents’ Association provides a public forum for residents to voice their concerns and, where possible, to instigate action on their behalf. The Association seeks to work with Councillors and other public representatives for the good of the whole community.
