Frantic times for Scarlet Whitaker Dunn, racing at Teesside in round 3 of the Sprint Series.
With 32 entries, all within 1 second a lap of each other, there was plenty of very close racing and lots of laps. Race day was made up of warm up, qualifier, 3 heats and a final.
Scarlet is still getting to grips with this class of kart and the very close racing. Setting her fastest lap to date in the final despite having a broken stub axel (which holds the wheel on) following impact from another kart a few laps previous.
“Scarlet showed much bravery competing in such a close and competitive field. Scarlet learnt a lot from this weekend and even when things didn’t go her way she didn’t give in, giving her all every time until the flag,” said Mam.
“The competition was difficult with top drivers but, despite the challenge, I still had a load of fun,” said Scarlet.
Unfortunately Scarlet will miss Round 4 at Teesside due to family commitments but she will be back out testing and racing again soon.
We would like to thank Amaron Racing, PHM (Peninsula Historic Motorsport) and Rob Storey for their generous assistance and financial support making this possible.
