On Monday 9th December award winning Children’s Author SF Said visited Greenfield Community College. He spent time with Greenfield’s student book club during lunchtime, followed by a talk to all of Year 8 and a workshop with Greenfield’s keen writers in the afternoon. This was a fantastic opportunity for Greenfield students to meet such a well-known author and discuss his latest book “Phoenix” which has been nominated for the CILIP Carnegie Medal and the Kate Greenaway Medal.
Both the students and SF Said enjoyed the visit, one student said: “It was the best experience I’ve ever had!” Another student was inspired by the session with the author: “The day encouraged me to continue reading and writing. I am now more confident about writing as a career.” A final student said: “It was a good chance to meet an author as a person rather than a celebrity.”
We would like to thank SF Said for joining us –and wish him luck with “Phoenix!”
