Last week saw the busy opening of a fantastic new exhibition in Greenfield Gallery. Becky Sunter, Sarah Oatley and Jane Riley are three artists exhibiting their textile creations as the collective “The Bobbin Shed.”
After a hectic three days installing artworks, which include textile bird sculptures, large woven wall hangings and intricately embroidered textile landscapes, the artists were joined by family, friends, colleagues and more at a bustling preview event.
Becky, Sarah and Jane are based at Lingfield Point in Darlington, where they create work and run courses from their studio The Bobbin Shed. They each work in different areas, with textiles as the common thread!
Jane builds life like birds from recycled fabrics and weaves colourful tapestries, where Sarah stitches and patches to make art, quilts and more. Becky uses traditional looms to create woven pieces.
The exhibition is on display here at Greenfield Arts until Wednesday 4th March – we are pleased to be able to support these local artisans and the fantastic work
