During the second week of Fairtrade Fortnight, students at Greenfield College have been continuing to support Foncho’s vision to sell bananas fairly in a variety of ways. After the great success of Jade’s coffee morning during the first week, students have been very creative in designing their own Fairtrade recipes. Many students have been creating their own Fairtrade snacks to be entered into the Snack Attack Challenge competition with great prizes to be won.
The winner of the competition to guess how many Fairtrade Maltesers were in the jar, which has raised £25 for further Fairtrade activities, was Jack Hobbs from Cherry Time4Success group who guessed correctly with 112. Jack said, ‘It’s nice to win and make a donation for a good cause’. Well done Jack!
Students have been wearing Foncho’s stickers to raise more awareness of Foncho’s vision outside of school. As recognition for Greenfield’s continuous support for Fairtrade we have been able to achieve the Fairaware award and are continuing to work towards the Fairactive and Fairachiever awards, offered by the Fairtrade Foundation to recognise awareness of Fairtrade in a school.
The activity over the past fortnight is a great example of the global learning taking place at Greenfield, with dedicated teachers working hard to ensure that students are equipped with knowledge and awareness of the world they live in.
