Next Monday, 17th June, between 7pm and 8pm Durham Tigers will relaunch their touch rugby session at the Millennium Stadium, across the road from the Sunnydale Leisure Centre, Shildon. Touch Rugby is a non contact form of rugby league and is open to all ages and both genders.

The difference between rugby league and touch rugby is that instead of opponents physically tackling each other, the opposition is required to pass the ball to his opponent if his opponent touches him.

The clubs secretary, Phil Selby, said “Touch Rugby is a great way to get into rugby league, or to get fit, because it is still a very energetic and sternum sport, there is still the physicality of running with the ball, scoring tries, passing and running from your opponent, so if you would like to get fit or you are interested in rugby league but not the idea of physical tackling then come along on Monday.”

If you are interested in the Durham Tigers or would like more information you can either like ‘We Are Durham Tigers’ on Facebook or just turn up at Sunnydale Leisure Centre, Shildon at either: 6:30 on Tuesday Evenings for our open age (16+) team or at 10 am on Saturday mornings if you are interested in our junior teams, or at every Monday from 7pm on Monday evenings for touch rugby. “
