Durham Tigers Rugby League has been awarded Focus Club status by Rugby League’s governing body, Sports England. The club has been awarded this due to their commitment to quality coaching staff, high quality training they provide and for the way they develop talented players from the area.

Seven new coaches from across the north east have joined the club and received recognised qualifications. Club Secretary Phil Selby said “I think it is important that coaches are of the highest possible quality to inspire kids into playing rugby, or progressing into the sport professionally. If players see coaches that are passionate about Rugby League then they are more likely to progress through the sport, which is the overall aim.”

Since the recruitment of new coaches, the Tigers have sufficient staff to give detailed attention to every player giving them confidence to be successful in the upcoming season.
