Both Under 14 and Under 13 Girls’ were in Cup action last weekend resulting in fantastic wins for both age groups. The Under 14s hosted Hebburn Town Honeys’ at the Oak Leaf and triumphed 5-4 in a pulsating match. Coasting at 3-0, the visitors fought back to 3-2, then the two goal advantage was restored to 4-2 before again the arrears were reduced to 4-4 with two minutes to go! Penalties loomed – then the home side won a free-kick 25 yards out. Up stepped Chloe Ryan to rifle in the winner. Amazing stuff from all the girls. Scorers were Chloe Ryan (3), Becky Potter and a well deserved first goal from Lucy Dieteren.
The Under 13 Girls’ were away to Deerness Valley and after 10 minutes a superb pass from Melissa found Meg who beat all the defence and hit the back of the net. Just before half time Deerness equalised from a free-kick. The second half, saw the girls battle hard and were rewarded 2 minutes from time as Aaliyah and Meg passed the ball all the way to the box for Meg to slot the winner!
Under 17s maintained there 100% record with this win against Coxhoe Athletic. Jimmy Cameron made it 1-0 when heading home a Kieran Mcwaters free-kick. A Zach Barrigan brace made it HT 3-0. Corey Denton scored a brace after the break then the goal of the game as Owen Morrison rose above everybody and powered in a unstoppable header. Corey netted again for another hat-trick and Jimmy got a deserved goal and the scoring was complete when Glyn Marley scored. MOM went Josh Reay.
Billingham 1-3 Under 13 Falcons. The Falcons unbeaten run continues! Having gone a goal down Cole Harrison netted an excellent equaliser. Cool heads were needed in a difficult match, suffice to say the boys dug deep, played with belief after being reduced to 10 men, then exceeded expectations by adding a second goal from the outstanding Cole Harrison. All topped off by a brilliant Charlie Hirst goal.
Attitude, application and commitment were all missing from the Under 12 Falcons’ weekend performance. The boys need to learn to win and lose in the right manner. MOTM went to Jacob Race who gave his all. Goals by Kane Hoopwood and Kieran Gillham in a disappointing 9-2 defeat.
Under 12 Eagles produced a great performance beating Kader Athletic 7-1. The Eagles started where they left off last week going 4-0 up after 15 minutes! Goals from Adam Lowe, Aaron Ross, Adam Hicks header, and Joey Howarth. There was also an own goal to go in for good measure following a corner.Kader got one back just before half time following a penalty. 5-1 at the break. Second half and another goal from Joey Howarth and one from Callum North completed the scoring.
The Under 11 Falcons winning run came to an abrupt end today. Unfortunately the result was 12-1 to Harton Bulldogs. Hopefully we’ll “bite” back next week.
The Under 10s travelled for two games at Leven with only 7 players. Ayclifffe battled but found themselves 2-0 at half time. Finley Bradon then scored a long range effort to reduce the arrears but a dodgey freekick and an awful deflection gave Leven two more followed by another good solo effort. Finn O’Hanlon netted a fine goal but it ended 5-2. Second game and Aycliffe started great with Matty scoring great goals to lead 0-2. All the players were fantastic as Aycliffe kept pressing – but tired legs started to show and Leven brought on some fresh legs and won 6-2.
Under 9 Falcons v Billingham Synthonia. A few changes to the starting line up saw us run out 4-0 winners, showing some real quality throughout. Cole Gaskarth (2), Dylan Stewart and Alex Beattie were the scorers. MOTM went to Louis Parnaby. The second game ended 2-2 but for their keeper who was on fine form. Goalscorers were Travis Dixon and Ryan Usher. A brilliant effort from Louis Baxter who got MOTM.
