This is what is happening to grass cutting in our town. This photo shows a piece of land owned by Durham County Council cut very nicely while the edge owned by Livin has been left.
Why don’t both pay our Town Council to cut the grass? They have good machinery and do a proper job. Of course they would have to be paid, but in the long run both Livin and the County Council would save money by using machinery and staff based locally.
A letter in this issue gives an example of how the front piece of grass in front of your house can look with a bit of imagination. The owners of the land should give the land to the house occupier to use and keep tidy. The savings would be greater in the long run and the area would look tidier and more interesting.
