With only seven games to go Darlington F.C. really have reached the business end of the season. This has been another topsy turvy week in the Evostik First Division North as we leap-frogged over table toppers Salford with a 5-1 away win over New Mills on Monday night. Then Salford did the same to us 24 hours later when they won away, with a last minute goal, to Prescot Cables. This is getting interesting, if a little frustrating!
This weekend we are away to Shaun Reid’s Warrington Town as we all remember what happened last time we met. Northwich away on Tuesday night so two very difficult games, but ones which we can win and, hopefully, with Salford not playing Tuesday, send us back to the top of the league.
Next weekend we have two games in three days starting with Droylsden at home (Heritage Park 3pm kick off) on Saturday 4th April then away to Scarborough in Bridlington.
The Scarborough game should get a big following being Easter Monday. This spate of games could have a big impact on who wins the title.
Off the pitch it’s good to see that the fund to get us home has reached £225,000. Fantastic effort from all involved and hopefully we’ll achieve that little bit extra so our new home can be a category B ground with a 3000 capacity.
I’m currently setting up an Aycliffe branch of Darlington Supporters Club. We’ll meet once a month, plan away trips and any ideas to further the Club. Those interested in joining can email me at alanmbennett@hotmail.com
Keep the faith.
