Newton Press would like to dispel all doubts regarding the publication of the Newton News. It is not subsidised by any third party, nor is it financed in any way by any other public body.
It costs you, the reader, nothing and is published and distributed entirely at the expense of Newton Press who derive finance from the sale of advertising space.
We pay young boys and girls and retired active citizens to distribute the Newton News to each house in Newton Aycliffe and surrounding villages. Unfortunately we cannot be 100% certain that they are always doing the job properly and we rely on our readers to inform us if they are not receiving their copy.
The policy of this newspaper is to be absolutely impartial on every topic, yet reserving the right to make comment. Readers are invited to write to us on any issue, and provided the article passes the usual requirements, will be publicly aired.
There is little need to be sensational in our editorial as we are under no pressure to increase circulation, therefore we can hear both sides of an argument calmly without upsetting either party. In most cases we are able to resolve a matter without having to go into print. The indication is that our efforts as the community newspaper are appreciated, and this has its reward.
We thank readers for their kind comments and hope to continue to be of service for years to come.
