Dear Sir,

Having read the two editions of Newton News which were in my mailbox when I returned from holiday, hoping to see that my recent letter to the press had been printed, I was initially disappointed to see it had not, but then realised I had them in reverse order, and found that it had been printed after all ‘many thanks’.

However, reading them in that order, afforded me of Alastair P G Welsh’s opinion of J D Clare’s article in the previous issue, and one word in particular, stood out (more on that soon); what I got from both articles was that a major point is being overlooked; It does not matter much what you or I or Putin thinks of Donald Trump, he only has to do a couple of good things before his term ends, and he will be remembered forever as the great ‘Mr. America’.

Let’s face it, he does not need the wages or the pension, and the political people around him are teaching him how to lie (though it will take a while before he is as good as ‘any’, of our lot); Donald Trump, puts America first! And that is my reason for this letter, what Mr. Clare does with his own time is very much up to him, and as long as no wages or expenses have been claimed, there is no harm done.

I suggest that all people, including Councillors, take a leaf from Mr. Trump and put their own job in their own town first, instead of thinking you can run America or Britain better than those who are doing it, do your own job to the full, and try to do it better than anybody else can!

Councillors especially!

You can stop looking for stock reasons why things don’t get done ‘The manky pavements, the litter and fly-tipping for starters’.

The main cry is lack of funds, but there are a great many brand new vans running around with DCC, Livin or GATC livery, and often carrying two people where one would do!

And the stand out word?

Trolling!

It’s a word much used by Mr. Clare, if you write anything he does not like, he will use it against you, it means you are an “ugly cave dwelling dwarf”, who tries to incite trouble.

Neil McKee.
