Jo Mackintosh from Newton Aycliffe has won a brilliant bronze award for the exceptional work helping 50+ people in the area lose weight every week and will launch the first ever Saturday group in Newton Aycliffe in early September to reach out to more people.
Jo became a slimming consultant in January 2014 and says: “I am delighted to have received the ‘Bronze’ award on behalf of the Jubilee Fields – Shildon group. I feel passionately about helping people to transform their lives by losing weight in the same way that I did when I lost 4½ stone with Slimming World in 2013. “
“Losing weight made me feel happier and healthier and gave me so much more confidence. I became a Consultant because I wanted to share that feeling and help other people to achieve the same success I had myself.
As a working mum of two I know how hard it is to make groups during the week, and because Slimming World wants to make our groups as accessible as possible, I am absolutely thrilled to be given the opportunity to launch the first ever Saturday morning group in Newton Aycliffe”.
Jo who was educated at Byerley Park and Greenfield believes she has a fabulous job making great friends with members.
27.4% of adults in County Durham are suffering a range of weight-related health problems from diabetes to heart problems and feelings of low self-worth that impact on their working and personal lives every day. So anything that helps people to lose weight by adopting healthy eating habits and becoming more active is making a difference – both to themselves and future generations of children, too.”
To join the Newton Aycliffe group, which is held every Saturday at 9:30am at Newton Aycliffe Youth Centre, either pop along or give Jo a call on 07540 098529.
