Great Aycliffe Community Aid  Partners (GACAP) held their monthly meeting at the Agnew Community Centre recently and Susan Saddler from Helping Hands advised her son Luke was working on further developing the website for the partnership.
Currently our  community newspaper “Newton News” offers organisations in Newton Aycliffe a FREE page on their website and GACAP will take up this offer.
The partners decided on Wednesday 22nd April from 6-7pm for the public consultation showing the benefits the Agnew building extension will bring to the people living in the area.
Ron Mitchie Secretary and Centre Manager of the Agnew said the trustees of the centre were excited working with GACAP in providing a facility for those on the town who were in short term difficulties.
Although the project has not yet applied for planning permission or funding GACAP and the AGNEW are confident the proposed new building will receive support. The Agnew Community Centre will be the hub for numerous welfare groups providing rooms and facilities.
Chairperson Pauline Chambers has been working hard behind the scenes ensuring the Business Plan and other such documentation is ready for funding bids.
The Aims and Objectives of GACAP are as follows:
1. Helping residents stricken by crisis, disadvantage or ill fortune and directing them to the best resources or partners within the area to satisfy their immediate needs and provide information, advice and guidance.
2. The resources of the group to be made available by unconditional, empathetic members of GACAP to provide, support, information advice and guidance.
3. To co-ordinate resources to the best and most cost effective method of delivery to those in need.
4. The partners will draw down support from each other and welfare agencies, acting as referrers and  first point of contact.
