FIREWORKS and ice cream will be the order of the day when a popular parlour hosts a fundraising bonfire night. Sue Archer, of Archer’s Jersey Ice Cream at Walworth Gate decided to organise the event as a result of bonfire nights in neighbouring towns and villages being axed.
The business is supporting the Great North Air Ambulance Service at the ticket-only event.  Mrs Archer said: “We wanted to support the local community while helping a life-saving charity. There have been a few local displays cancelled in recent years, so we are hoping for a good turnout.
The event will take place on Saturday 2nd November, with the bonfire lit at 6.30pm, and fireworks at 7pm. There will be a barbecue, jacket potatoes and soup on sale, as well a late-night opening of the cafe for those fancying an ice cream or hot drink.
Ruth Davey, of GNAAS, said: “We are looking forward to celebrating bonfire night with all at Archer’s. “The money raised will go directly to supporting our air ambulances and keeping them flying life-saving missions.”
One thousand tickets are now on sale and are expected to sell-out. Ticket prices are £4 for adults, £2 for children, free for under 5s and £10 for a family ticket, which includes two adults and two children. Tickets must be bought by 31st October and are available at Archer’s, by phone on 01325-300336 or through the GNAAS website at www.greatnorthairambulance.co.uk/shop
