Darlington Jazz lovers will be dancing in and out of their seats when the ever-popular New Century Ragtime Orchestra swings back to town on Saturday 7th October.

The New Century Ragtime Orchestra will be bringing their big band swish and inimitable sound to Darlington New Orleans Jazz Club’s lunchtime gig at St Augustine’s Parish Centre, Larchfield Street, Darlington. Doors open at 12 noon and the gig starts at 12.30 prompt.

There’ll be ragtime entertainment, banter, virtuoso group performances and some stunning solos from this sought-after Tyneside-based band that’s grown in status over the years and expanded its repertoire to include many wonderful standards from the 1920s and 30s. It’ll be a packed house as well as a big band, so make sure you arrive early to secure a seat.

Entry to the gig is just £10 on the door, and children 15 and under go free. Darlington for Culture members are eligible for discounted entry on production of their membership card. There’s a licensed bar; tea and coffee is available; and everyone is very welcome to bring their own food along for a picnic whilst the band is entertaining.

There’s the added benefit of plenty of free onsite car parking. It’s also just a short walk from the bus stops on Tubwell Row and Darlington railway station.
