Dear Sir,
I have heard that the Town Council have stopped the West Park Friends Group of volunteers from clearing any more weed and algae from the lakes at West Park.
This is outrageous, just who do the Town Council serve?
We the public, the tax payer, the electors, are the masters and you the Councillors are there to serve us, consult us and take our views into account.
We want West Park lakes cleaned, not clogged with weed and algae. We want them safe and clean for our kids to play with boats on, to be able to wade in safely, and above all we want proper boats back.
I understand that one Councillor claimed recently that it cost £10,000 a year to have boats, but only received £800 or revenue; that the boat house would have cost about £1500 to repair before it was demolished.
Well think on this Councillors, you spend over £30,000 year on year from revenue expenditure on Councillors allowances, so don’t say you haven’t got the money to do things that we the public want.
Get the lakes cleaned and maintained properly, it’s your duty, and be grateful for hard working public spirited volunteers doing part of your job for you for free.
M Heaviside, Resident
