Birtley Town v Aycliffe U11 Girls
The Girls started strong, with a few shots going over the bar in the first 5 mins, before Lily scored twice, the first from the edge of the box going to the top corner, the second a rebound, after Amelia’s shot was saved. Then Birtley broke through to score before half time. Second half the Girls took control of the game. Phoebe managed to get into the box to get herself her first goal. Next was Frankie slotting into the corner, after a pass from Poppy, getting her first goal for the club. Poppy was moved up front and ran through the defenders before slotting into the bottom corner. In the last few minutes Phoebe scored the sixth and final goal after passing through the midfield and breaking through their defence. Another great team performance, MOTM goes to Frankie after a lot of battling and getting her first goal for the club.
Aycliffe U14 Angels 4 v Hetton Juniors 4 (4-3 Penalties)
U14 Girls League Cup semi final. An absolute rollercoaster. The girls went 1-0 (Amy), then 1-3 down with 20 minutes to go. The final 15 minutes saw Aycliffe score two quick fire goals (Charli then Faith) before conceding three minutes from time. Ninety seconds from the final whistle saw Erin score an equalising penalty. Aycliffe won 4-3 on penalties to advance to the final. Stars: Maddi and Daisy D.
West Auckland 3 v Aycliffe U15 Eagles 5
This cup game was against a team in our league, we knew it would be competitive. The Eagles didn’t start how they would have liked and found themselves 2-0 down. The boys were encouraged to work hard and play as a team and managed to turn the game on its head. From 2-0 down to winning 3-5 shows real character from this group. Goals from Kaiden x 2, Adam, Olly and Ollie. MOM Hamza.
Aycliffe U17 Eagles 5 v Blackwell Rangers 1 (Cup)
Dominant performance and a good win for the lads to move into the next round of the Cup.
Aycliffe U13 Eagles 5 v Northallerton Town 5
An end to end game with goals galore, but, with the last kick of the game, being a corner, Northallerton equalised following a scramble in the box to grab a point. The lads were disappointed as it’s the first time this season they have dropped points, however, this will be a good learning curve for them. Goals from Rossi x 2, Olly x 2 and Evan. MOM Evan.
Aycliffe U9 Eagles v Riverside Juniors
The boys were drawn against a top tier team for their 3rd round cup game. They knew it would be tough and that proved to be the case. The first half the opposition controlled the game, but the second half was a different story with the boys putting together several really good moves, and overall, much more solid. Hard work by all and no heads dropped. MOM Freddie G.
Aycliffe U12 Wildcats 2 v Darlington Feethams 4
A solid physical game and not many chances until Darlington took the lead. Aycliffe equalised through Phoebe but Darlo scored two goals in quick succession for 3-1. Evie scored in the second half and, with 10 minutes to go, we looked like getting an equaliser, but they scored a 4th late on for FT 2-4.
Norton & Stockton v Aycliffe U10 Wildcats
Tough game on a difficult pitch and the team affected by illness and absence. First half Norton started quickly, were more often first to the ball and took their chances in front of goal. The Girls showed great spirit after the break though. They went shoulder to shoulder with Norton, didn’t concede again and created some good chances on the break. POTMs: Georgia A & Erin.
Aycliffe U8 Wildcats v Hetton Juniors
Despite losing two early goals, the Girls played very well and deserved more from the game. A pleasing debut from Phoebe supported by Willow, Alice, Emilia and Layla. Goals from Sophie and Matilda.
Aycliffe U13 Girls 1 v Hartlepool Whites 5
Throughout the game, Aycliffe enjoyed spells where we looked comfortable and confident in possession but, overall, needed an increased level of ‘controlled aggression’ to make an impact against top of table Hartlepool. MOTM: Ellena.
