Keswick was the fabulous setting for two races on Sunday 15th June. In the clear waters of Derwent Water with a good temperature of 19 degrees 3 Triathletes form Aycliffe Tri Club stepped into the lake to take part in the Keswick Short Race.
The swim, bike, and run set in stunning countryside was a fast race with Graham Atkins first home for the club and also in 3rd place for his category in 1hr 19 mins. First lady home for the club was Jen Bainbridge in 1hr 36mins followed closely by Diane Savage in 1hr 41mins.
Next up was the long race again with three Aycliffe Triathletes taking part.
First home for the club in 2hr 40mins was Michael Scott, next was Gareth Elkin in 2hr 45mins followed by Martin Sedgwick in 2hr 50mins.
A little closer to home on the same day Weardale Triathlon and AquaBike took place at Stanhope open air pool. The event hosted by Durham Tri Club is a Sprint Triathlon and new for this year an AquaBike (swim and run). Vicky Howse was the club’s only member taking part in the AquaBike which didn’t phase Vicky as she managed to complete the swim and cycle in 55mins and came in 1st place overall.
In the Triathlon David Greatorex finished the sprint race in 1hr 12mins giving him 3rd place overall and Melaine Rowland in 1hr 26mins.
All the club’s athletes had a fantastic day’s racing in two stunning locations.
