Aycliffe Running Club held their presentation night at the RAFA Club last Saturday and a good night was had by all.
After the usual pies and peas etc. the presentation got underway.
2014 was such a successful year for the club, with so many athletes improving, there must have been some difficult decisions for the awards committee to make, but they eventually came up with the following result.
3 mile handicap winner –  Michelle Dixon   3 mile male handicap winner Martyn Knox
Club championship male  – Dez Fielden       Club championship female – Sandra Collins
Most improved – Michelle Dixon                  Best newcomer – Dave Blewitt
Male athlete of the year – Dez Fielden         Female athlete the year – Kelly Smith
Finally, the Rob Niven trophy was given to John Young. This award is given to the person who has done most for the club and I am sure most people will agree it was well deserved.
Earlier on the same day two athletes from the club competed in the NEHL cross-country meeting at Jarrow.
Martyn Knox crossed the line first, 258th in 45:10, followed by Colin Gibson, 404th in 51:56.
In the sixth event in the Stockton Winter Trail Races series over 5k, John Surtees made the most of being the only representative from the club. John stormed round the course in 19:59, finishing in 6th position out of 179 runners.
