The draw for the opening rounds of the Emirates FA Cup took place at Wembley last week. Newton Aycliffe have been drawn at home to Chester Le Street in the Extra Preliminary Round which will take place on Saturday 5 August. The winners of that tie will then visit either Albion Sports or Nelson in the Preliminary Round on 19 August. Aycliffe took 4 points from Chester Le Street, who went on to be relegated, last season. As was the case last year, the Emirates FA Cup will be Aycliffe’s first competitive game of the season with the Ebac Northern League commencing on Tuesday 8 August.
Aycliffe will welcome Ashington to Moore Lane for the league opener. Ayclffe began their preseason fixtures last week with games against Darlington RA and Darlington. Among the games is an away trip to Liversedge of the North East Counties League on 22 July. Places are available on the team bus for any supporters who want to travel.
