Staff from Greenfield Arts are delighted to announce that they have secured a new home through Great Aycliffe Town Council.
The new premises will be at the town’s Eco Centre in Moore Lane, Newton Aycliffe and will mean the team are able to continue to offer creative opportunities to the local community and to the wider public. The centre offers a lovely light workshop space which is perfect for activities with ample parking and accessible facilities.
“We are thrilled to be able to continue our arts provision for all and would like to thank Great Aycliffe Town Council for their support in the move” said Laura Towns, Arts and Communication Co-ordinator. “We hope to continue to collaborate with the council, local schools and organisations to offer activities that remove barriers to the arts and inspire creativity.”
The new organisation will also adopt the environmental ethos associated with the centre and look forward to providing an exciting and inclusive programme in the autumn. The new lease will mean that the current Cree groups will continue to have a place to meet and continue their amazing journey and Green Arts can offer a range of activities for all generations.
The new programme will start from October and staff would like to thank everyone for the many messages of support. An exciting range of activities will be launched in the near future with details of how to sign up and be a part of the ‘Green Arts’ community.
The Mayor of Great Aycliffe, Councillor Carl Robinson, commented: “The Town Council were keen to assist Green Arts in finding a new premises and bringing the under-utilised Environment Centre at Moore Lane into more regular use, particularly bearing in mind the environmental ethos of Green Arts, provided a solution that benefitted both parties. We look forward to working with Green Arts in bringing art and craft related activities and events to the community of Great Aycliffe.”
