On 26th November Woodham Academy held its third annual Apprenticeship Awareness final which saw over 150 Year 9 students working alongside a business from Aycliffe Business Park.
Their task was to lead a research trail into the opportunities available to them locally through the apprenticeship route and to examine career progression routes within the companies.
The six tutor groups battled it out in the live final with each group entering a collage display and a verbal presentation.  All presentations were to an exceptionally high standard and the use of modern technology was used to enhance the final performances.  The competition was won by Ebac who were represented by John Clough, Kacpar Siembida, Adam Grainger, Caitlin Swainston, Ellie Picken and Jasmeen Vasey.
‘The high quality of the presentations we saw on the evening made it incredibly difficult to choose an overall winner’ said Gary Chaplain from Business Durham, one of the two judges of the competition.
Woodham Academy would like to thank the six companies represented in the challenge: Ebac, Finley Structures, Gestamp Tallent, Livin, Shepherd Construction and Thorn Lighting.
