Dear Sir,

This is not just an Aycliffe problem but it is something that happens across, I would suspect, every town in the country.

The government is talking about introducing “green taxes” in various cities trying to combat air pollution aimed at diesel cars. I wonder if the “think tanks” involved have looked if there is an increase in air pollution at school pick up/drop off times and if so aim a tax for this type of motoring.

Perhaps an easy solution to this and to aid congestion would be to look at a ‘park and ride’ type scheme where parents in their vehicles meet at a designated out of town area, drop the kids off and they get on a bus – the bus then drops them off at the various schools.

The bus may need to do a couple of runs but surely one vehicle doing this is better than 100’s of vehicles parked outside schools.
