Rob Sowerby of Aycliffe Framers in the town centre came across a bit of local history in the form of a very old poster he was asked to frame.

The customer, Mr Tinkler, is the son in law of Kathleen Rutherford. The poster was found after being “put away for safe keeping” and Mrs Rutherford decided it needed to be framed after she had so much contact about it from different people.

Rob received the poster into his shop realising it was an original and very fragile. He framed and and sealed the poster into the frame without any fastening to maintain its originality.

It required a deal of great care to ensure the creases and folds were straightened as carefully as possible without causing any further damage.

The customer has contacted the local “What’s Happening in Eldon” Facebook page and has numerous contacts because of it and seems to have made connections with families from the past that weren’t aware of each other.
