Over 30 PE teachers from across the county came to Greenfield Community College last Thursday evening to take part in the ‘Greenfield PE Teachmeet’. The hugely successful evening was for teachers to share good practice and learn from highly skilled practitioners across the area. Organiser of the Teachmeet and one of the presenters, Greenfield’s Subject Leader of PE, Martin Butterworth commented: ‘This has been an outstanding display of enthusiastic and passionate teachers, sharing excellent practice with one another. The teachers in question had already done a full day’s work before attending and this promotes our commitment to improving educational opportunities for all the students in our schools.

The event was the first specific PE Teachmeet in the County and Greenfield plans to make this an annual event building on the success of this first year. This event comes on the back of recent high profile success in the PE Department. In February Greenfield were awarded the Physical Education Quality Mark, the benchmark and industry standard for high quality, an achievement only three other departments in the county hold. Moreover, it comes only a week after an outstanding annual Sports Presentation Evening, reinforcing OFSTED 2017 where they state ‘there is clear excellence in the teaching of PE’.
