Prospective students enjoyed a fascinating open event at UTC South Durham. They had a guided tour by UTC students, saw the impressive facilities and met the businesses who are working with the UTC expecting to employ future graduates. Over 400 people attended from across the region, looking to enrol for places in September for Year 10 and Year 12. Principal, Tom Dower, said “I was delighted by the turnout.  It shows that the word is spreading about the UTC.  It was lovely to see the excitement on the faces of young people as they talked to our students and business partners about the opportunities open to them.

The UTC is focused on science, technology and engineering and it’s important that students who join us are interested in those areas.  I was impressed by the level of thought that families are putting into considering their future.” The UTC is now oversubscribed for Year 10 but young people who are interested in both an academic and technical education should still apply and will be added to the waiting list.  There are still a few spaces left for Year 12.
