1407 (Newton Aycliffe) Squadron Air Cadets have won 2015’s Crofton Trophy. This trophy is awarded to the squadron who performed best out of Durham and Northumberland’s 35 squadrons in their annual Wing Commander’s Inspection. Cadets had to put on an impeccable display of drill with the smartest uniform under the watchful eye of Sqn. Ldr. John Scott RAF VR(T). Aycliffe cadets excelled themselves to take home the trophy with a score of 89%.
Other annual awards were up for grabs. 1407 finished third in the Durham Trophy. Since this is awarded to the squadron who has provided the greatest opportunities to its young adults it’s brilliant to see Aycliffe maintaining their high position. We also finished third in the Pusey Trophy, awarded for how well the squadron is managed. This strong result is testament to the hard work and dedication of our devoted team of officers, civilian instructors, committee members and Padre.
Combining these results, 1407 were the second best squadron in the Wing in 2015. The squadron consistently ranks highly. If you’re interested in joining an award winning squadron and want to experience fun and adventure with flying, shooting, sport, kayaking, rock climbing, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, BTecs, camps, fun and friends then why not join?
