Described as tranquil, peaceful, invigorating, inspiring, picturesque etc., England’s most beautiful marathon is no bus ride and this was perhaps reflected in the fact that only two members of the club were prepared to take on the challenge.
Dez Fielden completed the course in 9th position in the great time of 3:06:16 and super triathlete finish the course in 4:30:04.
In the first race of the NYSD cross country season at Caedmon School, Whitby, Aycliffe ladies had a full team for the first time in years. There was no mud on the course this year, but with such a big field there was some bottlenecks in the woods leaving some runners waiting to get through.
First home for the club was Jodie McMaster, 42nd in 27:55, followed by Penny Johnson, 51st in 28:53 and Michelle Dixon, who both bettered their time of last year by about a minute. Next to cross the line was Diane Savage, 79th in 34:04. The ladies team finished 10th.
In the men’s race Lee Wren was first home for the club, 61st in 38:18, followed by Jason Dixon, 104th in 43:46 and Colin Gibson, 127th in 48:26.
Mark Wade competed in the Coniston Trail Race and finished a commendable 2nd in 44:11.
