Dear Sir,
Having a nephew with autism I have witnessed the effect it had upon his life! He was diagnosed with Sematic Traumatic Disorder a mild form of Autism at the age of 3. Although noticed doing strange things at an early age he still went to a mainstream school where many of the children still accepted him.
Jack has continued to struggle with maths throughout his life and now aged 18yrs still finds numbers a problem. He is presently at college where he is studying media and has gained a close knit group of friends and comes and goes from college on his own.
My sister’s main hope is to see Jack able to look after himself one day and be accepted by others. So for me wanting to help and support autism is something close to the heart of all my family, by wanting to support the North East Autism Society based at Aycliffe.
Having built up close links with the charity I’m really excited about helping them throughout 2015 and beyond especially in this their 35th Anniversary Year!
I’m most grateful to Newton Aycliffe Lifestyle Fitness Suite’s offer to help and support my fundraising efforts. As a gym member there and a former employee of Durham County Council I feel assured of receiving encouragement as I raise lots of money.
I am entering this year’s gruelling Muddy Mayhem event held in September where my goal is to achieve a top five place with the aim to raise £1000. I also wish to make as many people as possible aware of autism and getting those affected by autism to become more accepted in the community. I know the support and backing offered by Newton Aycliffe Lifestyle Fitness Suite will have a major effect on increasing people’s knowledge of autism and help my fundraising efforts.
