New plant manager Colin MacLeod has taken over the reins of the 3M manufacturing site at Aycliffe.
The appointment marks a return to the North East for Colin, who spent five years in management roles at the Heighington Lane site until 2007. He has most recently been a manufacturing operations manager at the company’s super-hub site in Wroclaw, Poland.
“I’m really pleased to be back at Aycliffe,” Colin commented.  “The site has a very bright future and I’m looking forward to playing my part in it.”
The Aycliffe plant employs around 320 people manufacturing respirators for worker safety and products for the vehicle aftercare market.
Major capital investment is being made at the site into new production lines and it is currently ranked by 3M as the global company’s best manufacturing plant in the world.
It also has a significant safety record among its employees which last year brought it an Order of Distinction from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents for occupational health and safety.
