On Tuesday 7th December, Newton Aycliffe Youth Football Club U11 Girls, swapped the pitch for the pool at The Fish Tank in Newton Aycliffe.
Instead of running up and down the football pitch the team decided they would swim it! The length of one pitch just didn’t cut it for the girls who swam the length of 50 pitches. That’s a whopping 3,650 meters and managed to raise £1103.00 towards the purchase of a portable defibrillator. Although NAYFC are lucky enough to have a defibrillator at its home ground, many venues across the region don’t. Having this life saving piece of equipment on hand at all times will go a long way to help make the teams match days safer for players, officials and spectators.
Peter Hoyle, the girls manager, said, “Well done to all the girls, and thank you for your effort and commitment to our awesome team.”
The team would also like to thank Penny Gordon, owner of The Fish Tank, for the use of the venue and to the staff for giving their time.
