Sandra Greaves, Assistant Headteacher, retired from Greenfield College at the end of the summer term. Sandra taught at Greenfield for 21 years, and was Head of Maths before becoming Assistant Head Teacher with responsibility for curriculum planning and the timetable.
During this time she used her expertise to support thousands of students through their maths qualification as well as being an integral part of the leadership team. She was a very popular member of staff with both colleagues and students who appreciated the fact that she would always go the extra mile to achieve the best from those she worked with. A calm and consistent presence in the classroom, Sandra instilled confidence and belief in young people as she guided them towards their examinations. One of Sandra’s innovations was establishing a peer mentoring maths group where able mathematicians shared their skills with other students to reinforce their learning.
Sandra has taken early retirement and will continue to use her skills on a consultancy basis, whilst taking time out to pursue a number of personal projects, many based around the Lake District.
It was lovely to see her return last Thursday to share for the last time the success of her students’ hard work. We wish her a long, healthy and happy retirement, and hope to see her back at Greenfield at some stage in the future.
