Newton Aycliffe Youth U8 Falcons 4 – 0 Saxon Juniors

The Falcons went into the match on the back of a few tough games and knew we had to lift spirits and motivation. There would be no better way to do this, than 3 points at home. Saxon Juniors had only lost 1 game all season so it wouldn’t be an easy task.

The Falcons started the match with high intensity and controlled the match throughout. Starting with a 2-2 formation, this allowed us to push on the opposition defence when needed to support the attack and this proved critical as the Falcons quickly fired into a 2-0 lead through Cole. The lads continued to push and prior to half-time they managed to add a 3rd through Arthur.

In the 2nd half we changed formation and went for attacking 1-3 but Saxon Juniors came out fighting and they had a few chances to get back into the game but a very good defensive display between Cole (DEF) and Isaac (GK) saw the lads keep a clean sheet which was then followed with a 4th and 2nd of the game from Arthur.

MOM – Cole, Goals – Cole x2, Arthur x2.

Newton Aycliffe Eagles U 11’s Eagles 5 – 1 Darlington Spaire Lads

A tight opening to the game in challenging conditions for both teams, but the deadlock was broken by Kye with a great finish, however, a controversial penalty quickly got Darlington back into the game. 1-1 A free kick from Sam had the Darlington keeper scrambling and all he could do was push it out for a corner.

The two sides cancelled each other out for the remainder of the first half with few clear chances. The eagles had the best chance at the start of the second half, a corner from Noah played straight across the front of the goal, and all that was missing was a tap in.

Another penalty, this time for the Eagles! Ethan brought down in the box, a clear foul. Ethan stepped up and coolly slotted home from the spot. 2-1. The Eagles quickly extended their league with another calm finish from Ethan after a penalty box scramble. 3-1 An excellent finish from Kye from the edge of the box made it 4-1 to the Eagles.

Goal of the game – Kye! Harrying the Spaire Lads defence, Kye pinched the ball off the centre half and chipped the keeper from the edge of the box! 5-1. A great performance from the lads today, putting their training into practice on the pitch. Well done Eagles, keep it up! Man of the match went to Kye.

In the development game, a fully changed team for the Eagles played against what was mainly the Spaire Lads’ first team. The game finished 2-2, with Dan getting both goals. A great performance from the development lads, playing the game in the right way, in difficult conditions against tough opposition.

Newton Aycliffe U11’s Falcons 6 – 2 Barnard Castle

On Sunday the players braved bitter conditions away at Barnard Castle and were able to come away with 3 points. Great game to watch today although Aycliffe did not start well and allowed Barnard Castle to take an early lead. Once we composed ourselves we went on to get back into the game with a great headed goal and dominated the game from that point.

Second half saw the Falcon’s take total control and go on to score a further 5 goals made me really proud of the players today. All the players made an impact on the game and it was very pleasing to see players starting to switch on to how we want to play. Throughout the team from Goalie to attack, everyone stepped up and performed in what is always a tricky fixture. Well done and keep it up. Goal scorers – Travis Dixon, Dylan Stewart x2 and Connor Adams x3. Man of the match was Connor Adams.

Leam Rangers 2 – 2 Newton Aycliffe Youth U13’s Girls

A journey north to play the ever improving Leam Rangers for the U13 girls. Bright start as usual but we gifted the opening goal to Leam as hesitation at the back allowed the striker to nip in to score after 10 minutes. Aycliffe now stepped up a gear and a couple of excellent through balls leaving our strikers one to one with the keeper, but the keeper won both times.

Hattie picked up a ball wide right, cuts inside and hits the top corner for the equaliser. Then just before half time a corner from Kate is cleared but comes straight back to her, seeing the keeper of the line she sails the ball over her head and finds the back of the net HT 2-1 Aycliffe.

The second half again saw Aycliffe on the attack, constantly splitting the defence but another 2 one to ones go begging. Faith was now getting busier at the other end, but was standing strong. However a superb Leam corner drops at our front post and in the scramble the ball is poked over the line FT 2-2.

Newton Aycliffe U14’s Hawks 10-1 Hemlington Juniors

After a well observed minute silence the Hawks started slowly and found themselves a goal down early on. We dusted ourselves down and started to play some really good football, passing and moving, getting the ball out wide and creating plenty of chances. We scored a couple of quick goals through Jack Fleming and Dylan Redpath. Dylan added his 2nd and the team’s 3rd before HT.

Second half we dominated playing really good football. A couple of great moves were finished off by Lee Isaac and Thomas Smails. We were creating a lot of chances and the Hemlington keeper did well to keep the score down. FT 10-1 with goals from Lee Isaac 4, Jack Fleming 3, Dylan Redpath 2 and Thomas Smails 1. Mom Oliver Wright-Eirew who played really well in CDM first half and covered for a spell at Left back. A very confident display.
