Not a lot of football anywhere last weekend, however, a few games went ahead:
Hartlepool Youth 0 v Aycliffe U14 Eagles 2
A huge performance from all the lads in a match in which they dominated 95% of the play, restricting Pools Youth to very little threat on their goal. First half, Aycliffe were tremendous in the face of the strong wind and to take the lead into half-time was no fluke, great football all-round. Good build up play led to Will threading a through-ball to Oliver, who clipped it over the advancing keeper. A nail biting second half, mainly due to the opposition keeper pulling off numerous saves, to keep Pools in it. Deservedly though, Aycliffe got another in the final minute. Will calmly slotting Posi through, who used his pace to get one on one. The keeper saving the first attempt well, but made no mistake with the rebound.
The win moves the lads up to second by a point, with a game in hand on third (Pools Youth). Well done to Josh and Fin, for picking up Parents’ and Coaches’ MOMs.
Aycliffe U8 Wildcats v Crook Town Ravens
Holidays and injuries depleted the squad, but all the girls continue their improvement, in their first season in the league. Not the right result, but the girls still enjoy every game they play.
Aycliffe U9 Wildcats
The newest girls team continue to prepare for upcoming friendlies and tournaments, as they look towards their league debut in September. Still a couple of spaces left in the squad for any girls who are looking to play team football or are looking for a new team.
