The final weekend before the Christmas break for all 21 boys and girls teams at Newton Aycliffe Youth FC. First up were the teams playing in the Russel Foster League U12 girls v Deerness, a short drive to Framwellgate moor to take on the fast improving Deerness. The girls needed to bounce back after last weeks defeat and they got off to a flying start as Hattie opened the scoring after 1 minute but despite their best efforts Aycliffe just didn’t get going. in fact Deerness broke twice in the first half but fortunately Faith was on top form.  HT 0-1 Aycliffe . The girls picked up the pace in the 2nd half and started to get in behind Deerness eventually they were rewarded as Alex scored from a tight angle, this was quickly followed by a through ball to Hattie and she gives the keeper no chance for her 2nd.Still Deerness were breaking with pace but Macy, Neve and Emily held firm and kept them from scoring.

Another great through ball and Alex scored her second to bring the 3pts home FT 4-0 U13 Hawks 8 v 7 Seaton. The Hawks were at home again in the league this week. After our defeat to them last week in the cup, the boys were looking for a better result. In a high scoring game, the Hawks got off to a flyer with Jayden scoring in the second minute after a great pass from Adam Lowe. Next on the score sheet was Jack with a great pass again from Adam Lowe. Seaton pulled one back ,so 2-1 to the Hawks. Dylan then scored three goals in quick succession one of them a  penalty because they couldn’t handle his speed. Seaton pulled another one back just before the break. Half time 5-2 to the Hawks. Second half and Seaton came out fighting. They scored three quick goals to level it at 5-5. Seaton then were awarded a penalty 5-6. The Hawks made some changes and Jack scored again to make it 6-6. After some great end to end football our pressure paid off and Adam Lowe claimed a well deserved goal. Seaton levelled again 7-7 with five minutes to go. 2 mins left and the Hawks got a well deserved win after another great finish by Dylan. Final score 8-7 to the Hawks. This win should take the Hawks to third in the league as they break for Xmas. Under 7s 2 – 2 Consett AFC Juve The boys deserved the win based on possession but its goals that win games. Despite scoring twice and the play controlled by Aycliffe, it was Consett who took a share of the pts as theyn managed to squeeze 2 shots all game and scored with both. Good to see the lads at the xmas break 2nd in the league and if we continue as we are we will finish the season really strongly.

Under 9’s 2 v 5  Hetton Napoli. The boys weren’t at their best, and were quickly 4-0 down at half time. Second half we started with a bit more pace and pulled a goal back from a long looping shot over their keeper from Oskar. We pushed hard and Will scored our second but it was too little too late and Hetton scored a fifth to claim a good win. A few changes today but the boys continue to learn every week. Under 8’s 3 v 4 Farringdon Detached. What an excellent game of football with Farringdon starting the first half well however the Eagles defended brilliantly with Edwin at the back and Trystan pulling some amazing saves out of the bag. Anna, Will and Adam soon pushed forward with some fantastic passing which found Will in front of goal and with a great finish made it 1-0. Farringdon continued to play some good football but a cross from Edwin and a tap in from Adam made it 2-0 going into half time. Nathan then replaced Anna for the second half. Farringdon started quickly and soon found the back of the net making it 2-1, we continued to pass and put pressure on in an end to end exciting match but despite our best efforts they managed to score another 3 goals leaving us 2-4 down. Adam managed to slip one past their keeper to get his second making the score 3-4 followed by some more shots on goal from the Eagles however it wasn’t mean to be.
