She stood on the scales just
Wearing her socks,
And oh dear me! She got quite a shock!
Christmas and lockdown had taken it’s toll,
‘I’ll lose a stone by Easter.
Can I make that my goal?’
She looked out her collection of recipe books.
The slimmers ones, and said she’d cook.
Low fat everything that goes in her mouth,
‘There’s no way I’ll let my shape go south!
From now I’ll be careful what passes my lips!
Certainly no takeaway fish n chips!
I’ll give up my breakfast slice of toast,
But will still enjoy the Sunday roast.’
And so she began with great determination,
Cycled and walked. She deserved an ovation!
Cooked healthy meals with lots of veg,
‘I can do this!’ was her solemn pledge.
And soon the hard work did pay off,
For no more biscuits did she scoff.
And no more wine was slurped at dinner,
Very soon she was a winner!
She stepped again on those scales,
And this time she whooped,
She didn’t wail,
For the pointer at last hit the right number,
Our heroine had shed her lumber!
It goes to show if you’re in the right headspace,
There isn’t a challenge that you can’t face!
